Whisper Vines - Prosecco Review

13/12/2015

A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to discover a lovely wine supplier local to me called Whisper Vines.  Filippo sent me a case of mixed Prosecco to try and review for you here.  It's taken me a while to get through them (really tough), but they have now all been sampled and I'm ready to tell you how great they are!

Serre Spumante Extra Dry Rosa

Picture
This beautiful lightly pink spumante rosa was surprisingly nice.  In my experience, rose Proseccos and sparkling wines have been quite acidic and bitter.  This one was deliciously light, with a delicate fizz and small crisp bubbles.  A distinct citrus aroma, followed by lovely apricots on the nose, the flavour did not disappoint.  It reminds me of summer evenings in the sunshine, so this will be on my list for not only now but when the weather finally improves again.  This would pair beautifully with light foods such as fish and chicken or would be fantastic drunk on it's own.  You can buy this for £14.40 here...

Serre Prosecco Valdobbiadene Extra Dry – Lovre DOCG

Picture
This was my favourite of the four I tried.  It's so palatable and easy to drink.  Very light, small delicate bubbles, and a gorgeous creamy yet fruity flavour.  This really does highlight the difference between a quality and an average supermarket Prosecco.  OK it will cost you a little more, but this really is superior and you won't regret trying it!
This costs £15 and you can buy it here...

Serre Prosecco Extra Dry – Dianto DOC

Picture
This Prosecco Extra Dry was also really tasty.  It is made out of just Glera grapes and has a beautiful creamy fruity flavour.  This one also really does outshine the Extra Dry Prosecco you can buy in the supermarkets.  As an extra dry Prosecco, it means it is slightly sweet (but it is NOT sweet so do not let this put you off).  This means it pairs well with nibbles and light foods - or can be drunk as an aperitif.  This costs £13.30 and you can buy it here...

Serre Prosecco Valdobbiadene Brut – Treser DOCG

Picture
A very stylish looking bottle, elegant and simple.  This Prosecco packs a punch for sure.  This one is from the Valdobbiadene area, known for it's cool climate to grow the perfect grapes for Prosecco. There is a light sparkle with this one, and delicious exotic fruit flavours, such as passion fruit and pear.  I really enjoyed this one and it came a close second in my preferences!  You can buy this for £15.00 here...

These sound really nice, and would be great for upgrading as little over Christmas. I'm off to check them out now - thank you!

I love Prosecco!  I started sharing the love back in 2012 when I started a Facebook page highlighting weekly deals.  The page has grown into this website, and a rather large following of Prosecco Watchers!  All press/review requests please email me - hello@proseccowatch.co.uk
